Confession: I Kinda Sorta Like Home Parties

I’ve gotten to that age where I’m invited to home parties left and right. I don’t know what it is, but when you enter your mid-20s the college party invites turn into Tupperware evites.

I feel like every month I try to get recruited to be an independent sales rep. I’ll admit, I’ve been mighty close to caving in and buying a starter kit, but I’ve never taken the leap and don’t plan to. I do, however, still try to go to these parties to help my friends out (by that I mean help them get free things) and I look at it as a challenge to try to find the best deal in the catalog.

Most recently, I was invited to a PartyLite party. I had never heard of PartyLite until about 3 or 4 years ago when I entered the corporate world where people passed catalogs around. I got sucked in by a coworker and, while I tried to resist, bought some candles. I was pleasantly surprised (they actually smell when they’re lit).

While I wasn’t able to make the party I placed an order online. I scored a beautiful candle holder for 75% off making it just $15 (+ $6.50 shipping).

Sakura Lantern

This thing was much bigger than I expected (11″ tall). When I brought it into the family room hubs said, “What is that? A dressing room for the candle?” Made me laugh.

I have a Zen theme in my house and it works perfectly in my family room. Plus, I can use it with a tea light, jar candle, or electric tea light. And it’s bulky enough that the dog won’t knock it over.

Can you tell this was from one of those home party catalogs?
